Sunset Yoga Thursdays Starts Up Again March 7th!!!

So excited to start my outdoor Thursday Night Sunset Yoga sessions once again this Thursday, March 7th at 5:45pm. Class has been on hiatus for the winter, as the days get dark too quick and the rainy season causes frequent cancels, but that time is over…YAY!!!

If you’ve never joined me for Sunset Yoga in the park before, you are in for a treat. We meet up on the big hill above the amphitheater. To find us, as you come in to park, drive to the far right side corner of the lot, then follow the pathway out of the parking lot from that corner to the right. You will run into the concrete of the amphitheater, then can turn up the hill towards the ocean and you should see us there.

This class is an ALL LEVELS and ALL ABILITIES class!!! If you’ve never been to yoga before, no big deal, this is a great class to start with! IF you’ve been to yoga a bit this is a great class to continue to develop your practice. If you’re a seasoned yogi, this is a great class to add to your practice. We practice with conscious alignment while moving through fun flow sequences and find joy in our bodies and the beauty and wonder of nature. How’s that for a promise for a yoga class?! πŸ˜‰

All my outdoor classes are donation-based. Suggested donation: $5-$15.

As another teacher is away for the month of February, I’m teaching a basics class at Aloha Yoga Kula’s Pali Studio. All experience and ability levels are welcome. Great for beginners and brand new yogis, but also for experience yogi’s that might want to go a little deeper into the fundamentals of yoga. Excited to be teaching this class! Hope to see you all there!

Gin Joins Aloha Yoga Kula! New Vinyasa Class Tuesdays 5:15pm!

I’ve always loved Aloha Yoga Kula. Their two studios in Kailua are gorgeous and the owners and instructors are all so sweet. I’ve enjoyed subbing there for some time as well and the students there have been absolutely wonderful as well. I’m very excited to say, I have my own class at Aloha Yoga Kula’s Aikahi studio now. Tuesdays at 5:15pm, I will be teaching a vinyasa class. Vinyasa classes at the studio are more advanced and as such knowledge of yoga is suggested, but as always, I’m happy to teach to any level. If you have a question about whether or not the class would be right for you, please e-mail or call me. Hope to see some of you at this great space for this fun new class!

Subbing at Aloha Yoga Kula Wednesdays for the month of August!

Aloha yogis and yoginis!

I’m happy to announce that I will be subbing for Brigitte at Aloha Yoha Kula for the month of August on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm. It is a vinyasa class, so we’ll move along pretty well as we go through our practice.

Brigitte is one of the best yoga teachers on the island, so I am very honored to be subbing for her and getting to know and enjoy yoga with her students. Her studios in Kailua are also two of my favorite spaces for yoga on the island, so it will be fun being there.

The classes I am teaching are at the Aikahi Stuio, located in Windward United Church of Christ at 38 Kaneohe Bay Drive. Hope some of you can come join us for what should be some really fun, challenging classes.

Happy 2012!

Aloha Yogis! Hope 2012 is treating you all well so far!

A few updates are in order regarding the schedule of classes.

Monday’s class at Windward Family Wellness Center is now from 6:00pm-7:15pm.

Thursdays at Kaka’ako Waterfront Park will start again Thursday February 2nd at 5:30pm. This class was on hiatus due to the Winter time shift and it getting dark too early for us to hold class after most people get off work. I’m excited to have this fun outdoor class starting again.

Two more classes, a Sunday evening outdoor class and a Friday lunchtime class should be added at the beginning of February as well. Stay tuned for details on those.

Please check the Schedule Page for the most up to date information.

Windward Side Monday Class Moves to 5:30 Starting in September

Originally there was another class after us in the space, but now things have opened up, so I have decided to move our Monday class to 5:30 instead of 5 to allow folks more time to get there from work and battle traffic. If you’re coming down Kahekili, don’t be intimidated by the traffic…it’s not as bad as it looks. Hope to see you all there at 5:30 on Monday at Windward Family Wellness Center in the Ko’olau Shopping Center near Times.

Aloha ‘aina!

I returned from my trip to Belize last Wednesday, and I am so happy to be back home on Oahu. The trip was to work on some endangered coral that were spawning there. Midway through our research, we were evacuated due to Tropical Storm Harvey and we only were able to salvage about 1/4 of what we needed to do. I was reminded of the importance of flexibility, both in life and in body having to stay flexible with our plans and also trying to keep flexible in our bodies as the sleeping quarters took a toll on some (the only yoga class I was able to teach was a brief class to help our leader, Dr. Mary Hagedorn and her husband stretch out their backs that were sore). I also was reminded of the importance of surrender, that moment where you realize that you’ve done all you can and now things are out of your hands, having to leave our coral larvae during the evacuation and wait and see how they would be when we returned.

I taught my regular Thursday Kaka’ako class last week and was so happy to see quite a few of my students. I hope to see more of you all this week and get back into the swing of things teaching yoga.

Aloha ‘aina!!! It’s great to be home!

Off to Belize! (No classes until 8/25)

Well, I’m off to Belize for my “real job”. We’ll be at the Smithsonian Marine Station on Carrie Bow Caye, 14 miles off the coast of Belize with our fingers crosses that the staghorn coral there spawn. If they do, we’ll freeze their sperm and embryonic cells for future conservation efforts. Some friends from aquaria around the world will be there too to raise some coral babies, which will be awesome as well. I’ll be back on the 24th and yoga classes here in Hawaii will resume on the 25th. Until then…Aloha!
